Vidyakeerthi Professor K P S Chandana Jayaratne is an old boy of the Nalanda College, Colombo-10 and also a recipient of the “Nalanda Keerthi Sri Award” given only to less than 10 eminent personalities produced by Nalanda.

He entered in to the Faculty of Science, the University of Colombo in 1979 and passed out in 1983 with a BSc Physics Special Degree (Honors) and serving in the same university as a lecturer in Physics since 1984.

Currently, he is serving as the Head of the Department of Physics, and the Director of the Astronomy and Space Science Unit, Department of Physics, University of Colombo, Colombo-03, Sri Lanka. He was also a person involved in establishing the biggest telescope in the country at the Arthur C Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Moratuwa.

He is the National Coordinator and founder of the Sri Lankan Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (2007) and Sri Lankan Junior Astronomy Olympiad (2011). The number of public talks, newspaper articles, TV and radio programs on astronomy and science-related subjects came from him are well over 1000.

To his credit he received in 1991 the “Third World Academy of Sciences Prizes for Young Scientists – The 1991 Prize for Physics awarded by NSF and in 1992, the GRC (General Research Committee of SLAAS) merit award for his contribution to Sri Lankan Science.

He is currently the Patron to the Sri Lanka Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (SLAPC)

Kanthi-Fonseka

She is a medical doctor and has obtained her degree from St. Petersburg Medical University in Russia. She has done her Masters degree in Psychology in university of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. Further, she has followed Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychological Studies in Sri Lanka and also has successfully completed higher Diploma in counselling and parapsychology conducted by Institute of Psychological Studies. She currently serves as a Medical Practitioner in Wijaya Kumarathunga Hospital, Seeduwa. In addition to her Medical carrier, she is also serving as a counsellor and Psychotherapist over 25 years. She is working as a lecturer and also a Director to the institute of Psychological studies in Sri Lanka. She has been appointed as the secretary of Sri Lanka Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (SLAPC).

Mr. Wilson Athukorala

Mr. Athukorala holds BA (Hons.) degree in Sociology with second Class lower division from the University of Jayawardanapura in Sri Lanka. In addition to 1st Degree he has followed post graduate diploma in education counselling in National Institute of Education in Maharagama in Sri Lanka. Mr. Athukorala also holds a Diploma in counselling and Psychotherapy at the institute of psychological Studies in Sri Lanka.

In his long-standing teaching carrier over 35 years, he has served in different capacities in various schools and finally as the vice principal of Shariputhra Maha Vidyalaya, Matara in Sri Lanka.

Further, he has been serving as the senior teaching instructor in Matara Education Zone in Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2014 and also pioneered in establishing counselling units in the schools in Matara Education Zone.

During his tenure, he has organized different workshops for School teachers and students to enhance their quality of education, leadership skills development and counselling education in Matara Education Zone in Sri Lanka.

He also served as a resource person to the world vision organization, trainer/lecturer for preschool teachers and was the principal of  Waligama Chithramali and Anamali Perapasala. 

Mr. Athukorala is the secretary to Matara Sri Sudharshi piriven dayaka sabha. In appreciation of his long-standing social serviceman-ship, he was honored with Justice of peace (All Island). He is working as a lecturer and also a Director to the Institute of Psychological Studies in Sri Lanka. He has been appointed as the vice president of Sri Lanka Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (SLAPC).

Mrs. Manjula Senanayake

Once her BA degree was completed in 1995 from the University of Colombo, she decided to enter the field of psychology. She completed the Post Graduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy conducted by the faculty of education in the University of Colombo in 1997 and started her first job as a Mental Health worker at National Mental Health Council in Sri Lanka for one-year period.

Then she joined The Family Planning Association in Sri Lanka under the project of UNDP and worked as a Counsellor from 1998 to 2000.Then in 2000 she was appointed as an Assistant Student Counsellor to the University of Colombo where she served until 2012. During her stay in the university, she contributed to her alma mater in many ways; joining the orientation program, introducing counselling service for students, conducting workshops on counselling for academic and non-academic staff members.

In 2004 Tsunami disaster, she took a lead role in selecting 125 volunteer student representatives from all the faculties including faculty of medicine and trained them and sent them as volunteer Counsellors to serve the people who needed emotional and psychological support in different parts of Sri Lanka.  In 2012 she completed her postgraduate diploma in health psychology at University of Sussex, UK and also completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology at University of Keele in 2014.

In 2014, she became the director of the Institute of Psychological studies where she works currently. She was the former secretary to the Sri Lanka National Institute of Professional Counsellors from 2015 to 2022. In 2019 in the Covid pandemic, she introduced free counselling service for the people who needed emotional and psychological support nationally and internationally.

She was a fellow Member of Sri Lanka National Institute of Professional Counsellors

She is a Registered Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy -MBACP.

She is also currently reading for her Professional Doctorate in Counselling in the UK.

Induka Senanayaka

Mr. Induka Counts over 28 years of experience in the Insurance Industry particularly in the areas of Sales & Marketing, Training & Development, Administration, Management and Branch Operations . He holds a BA Degree in Sociology with Second Class Honors’ upper division, Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL. B) from the Open University of Sri Lanka and MBA in Marketing from the University of Colombo.

He holds Diploma in Marketing from the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and Diploma in counselling and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Psychological Studies of Sri Lanka.

Further, he was awarded N.D.S. Silva memorial price for the best student in Sociology in 1996 and also Awarded Best Student’s Subject price for Behavioral Aspects of Marketing and Principles of Organization and Management, respectively in the examination held in November 2003 and November 2004 by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing which is known as the National Body for Sri Lankan Marketers. He is also a Life Ordinary Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing and a member of the Association of Sri Lankan Sociologists.

Currently he serves as the Head of Group Corporate Business in one of the Leading Insurance Companies in Sri Lanka. He also serves as the visiting lecturer at Faculty of Finance and Management Studies at the University of Kelaniya. 

He also contributed as Private Sector Industry expertise in Sociology Subject Benchmark Committee appointed by the University Grant Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka, and also a member of Curriculum Revision Committee – 2021 of Department of Social Sciences of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Dr.Ruvini-Senanayake

Dr. Ruvini Senanayake

Dr. Ruvini Senanayake completed her school education at Musaeus College, Colombo 07 in Sri Lanka from 2004 to 2017.

She graduated from Grodno State medical University in Belarus with First Class Honors in 2023.

She has followed Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Institute of Psychological Studies in 2022.

She is currently working as a Director and a lecturer to the Institute of Psychological Studies in Sri Lanka.
